The technical-financial model of the National Water Company of Senegal (SONES, Société Nationale des Eaux du Sénégal) is an essential tool for monitoring the activities of the utility as well as the activities of the farmer. It is a model for simulating and analysing the economic and financial equilibrium of the urban water sector. Its objective is to project the financial accounts of the SONES and the operator, under certain assumptions and constraints, and to determine the conditions of the financial equilibrium of the two companies, in terms of income and cash flow.
The mission is a 4-year technical assistance to the SONES, aiming at the redesign of the model within the framework of the new affermage contract (type of PPP contract), its regular updating, the training of the SONES staff in its use, and the realization of prospective analyses based on the model. The model is an essential tool for monitoring the activities of the utility as well as the activities of the farmer.
Our team has conducted the following activities :
The mission will eventually empower the SONES teams to use and regularly update the new generation financial model, which was designed by our team with the idea of strengthening its modularity and facilitating its update. This model will contribute to the SONES' planning and study activities, making it possible to monitor the evolution of the supply-demand balance, investments, and the company's financial health.
