Study on Social Housing in Kenya

As part of a study commissioned by Agence Française de Développement (AFD), Espelia's consultants conducted interviews and site visits in Nairobi and Nakuru, in order to analyze the diversity of social housing initiatives including rent-to-own, slum upgrading, housing cooperatives, municipal rental housing, etc.

The study will then cross-reference the results of the quantitative and qualitative survey on the financial capacities of the target population, carried out by GRET and SDI K, in order to formulate recommendations for AFD's intervention in the social housing sector, in collaboration with the State Department of Housing and Urban Development (SDHUD), the Kenyan counterpart in the framework of its Affordable Housing program.
